Hi, my name is
Kyle Gustavsen.
I'm a Computer Science student building software.
Currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science at Southern New Hampshire University, with a focus on practical, well-engineered software, from web applications to native desktop tools.
About Me
I'm a Computer Science student at Southern New Hampshire University with a focus on building practical, well-engineered software. My current project, eve-nexus, is a desktop industry-planning application for the game EVE Online, built with Tauri, React, and Rust, pairing a modern web front end with a fast, native back end.
I'm drawn to software that's both functional and thoughtfully designed, and I'm continuing to build my skills across full-stack development, systems programming, and software architecture as I work toward my degree.
I work AI-first, using Claude Code as a development partner across my projects, from eve-nexus to my open-source C++ server work. I set the ground rules up front (each repo has written architecture rules for the AI to follow), plan or mock up features before any code is written, and run security and code audits that I review and triage myself. I test every change before it ships, and every commit is mine. For coursework I do the opposite: I write the code by hand and use Claude only as a tutor, because there the point is to learn.
